Toyota Chief to Skip US Safety Hearings

Posted by admin as Business

According to a senior Republican, it is said that Akio Toyoda is forced before a U.S. Congressional inquiry to testify reminds Toyota Motor. The call came after the chief of the Japanese car group rejected an informal invitation to appear before lawmakers on a planned trip to the USA.
According to the Office of Darrell Issa it was said that Mr. Toyoda was obviously not eager to give to the Congress and the American people any answers as expected. It is significant that the only way he will come before the oversight committee is by formal invitation.
Under the rules, the final decision belongs to Congress on whether to grant a formal certificate provided Edolphus Towns, the Democratic chairman of the supervisory board. If Mr. Toyoda rejected a formal invitation, the members of the Committee may issue a subpoena compelling him to appear.
