The US governemtn has accuse Toyota of hiding a dangerous defect and announced the penalty for failing to alert regulators to safety problems quickly enough.
But, in spite of the safety scandal which saw US authorities propose a record £10.8 million, Toyota’s Prius hybrid car still manage to top Japan’s sales charts for the 11th consecutive month in March. Official figures showed that Toyota, which has recalled more than 8 million vehicles globally over issues including braking problems, sold 35546 units of the petrol-electric vehicle in Japan. And there is still a six-month waiting list.
