US Launches Probe into Qualcomm

The US Justice department has launched an anti-corruption investigation into the activities of Qualcomm, the world’s biggest chipmaker for mobile phones.
According to the company, it is announced that it learned that the US attorney’s office in San Diego had begun a preliminary inquiry regarding its compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

IMF Seeking $500bn for Funding EU

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said they would try to increase their resources through the $ 500 billion (£ 325bn) to help stabilize the world economy. The extra money could be used to fight to the countries in the euro zone to pay their debts.

But the IMF said that it may be up to $ 1TN “in the coming years. The $ 500 billion includes the recent European commitment to the € 150 billion (£ 125bn, $ 194bn) are committed to the IMF, said the 187-nation body. Based on staff estimates of potential global financing requirement of about $ 1TN in the coming years, the fund would aim to up to $ 500 billion of additional lending resources,” said the IMF. “In this first phase, we examine ways of funding and will have no further comment, pending the completion of the necessary consultations with the members of the Fund.”

US Approves Shell’s Plan for Arctic Drilling

The oil and gas group–Royal Dutch Shell, has secured an important approval from the US government for the long-delayed plan to drill in the Arctic waters off Alaska, which has been fiercely opposed by environmental campaigners.

US Treasury Considers New Debt Security

The US Treasury and Wall Street dealers are planning to discuss whether to introduce a new debt security into the field in order to help finance the mounting budget deficit of the country in the coming years.
